Framework

The Honda Innovations Design Thinking framework is organized into 5 phases.

Each phase has specific goals and activities. Through these activities, you and your team will deepen your understanding of the user’s problem, generate ideas to solve their problem, and prototype potential solutions.

Use it as a guide to help you apply Design Thinking to your projects.

Activities Roadmap

Whether you’re at the beginning of a project or if you already have a project underway, Honda Innovations Design Thinking can be adapted and applied to your project at any point. You can choose to do them all or only a few as needed.

If you’re at the beginning of a project, consider starting with the activities in Spark phase. If you’re already working on a project, take a look at the framework and see which phase and activities fit where you are in your project. These activities may be completed with multiple Waigayas and workshops.

Core Activities: Do these when you need to solve a problem. These are the recommended basic activities.

Far Future: Do these when you are considering solving a problem set in the future context, potentially 8+ years from now.

New Services: Do these when you are considering new services as a solution. Explore the details of the service and how it will be provided.
