Low-Fidelity Prototype
Create a version of your concept or solution quickly.
Make a version of your idea with the materials you have. This prototype should be rough and only contain the key elements of your ideas – save the fine details for a higher-fidelity prototype. What can you make to share with another person within a short time?
What you’ll need
- Pens or markers
- Paper
- Prototyping Kit (scissors, tape, play-doh, cardboard, cardstock, and any other materials you have available)

Instructions
Assign prototyping tasks
Reference the Experiment Canvas you used to identify what to prototype. Select who will create which elements of the prototype.
Make a list and gather supplies
Make a list of the items you think you might need to create the prototype. Collect these items and anything else you come across that may be useful.
Tip
If you don’t have exactly what you need to build your prototype, try other materials that can still help you communicate your idea.
Make the idea
Using the materials, each person will start making different parts of the prototype. Try using different types of materials or use unexpected combinations. When ready, bring the different parts together to form the prototype.
Share the idea
Share what you’ve made with others. See if the ideas make sense. Do they inspire any new ideas or things you could do to improve the solution? What surprised you about this prototype?
